Overnight in Desenzano.
After an energizing breakfast, we will be ready for our first contact with this enchanting area. Today, we’ll ride in the South Lake Garda area.
We will cycle on peaceful backroads heading to the historical town of Torre di San Martino della Battaglia, famous for its tower built to commemorate King Vittorio Emanuele II and those who fought for Italian independence and union during the mid-19th century.
Our next destination will be Borghetto sul Mincio, on the border between Veneto and Lombardy. In this enchanted realm where past and present intertwine, crafting atmospheres suspended in time, we’ll savor our morning coffee in its timeless square.
Keep on riding. We’ll ride back to the Lake, cycling through the exclusive towns of Peschiera and Sirmione, with its famous “Rocca.” Built for strategic purposes at the end of the thirteenth century, Rocca Scaligera in Sirmione is one of the best-preserved castles in Italy, with its own quayside making it a rare example of fortification for port use.
And finally, Desenzano, where our exclusive accommodation is awaiting us, and a delicious dinner will be the perfect reward for our day’s ride.
Overnight in Desenzano.
Today we’ll move from Desenzano to Salò.
To reach our destination, we’ll ride through the rolling hills of the Valtenesi area. Situated on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda, it is a region rich in history, culture, and breathtaking scenery, also known as the “Lemon Riviera.” This name is due to its strong agricultural culture. Here, we can find vineyards, olive groves, and lemon trees, a unique territory ideal for cycling in pristine nature.
Salò is our destination today, situated on Lake Garda’s Brescia province shore. Once capital of the Magnifica Patria (Magnificent Homeland) during Venetian rule, it has evolved into a highly regarded and exclusive holiday destination.
Overnight in Salò.
Today is the “cycling and ferry” day.
First, we’ll cycle along the shores of Lake Garda from Salò to Maderno. Then, we’ll take a ferry to the other side of the lake, providing a fresh perspective on the landscape. We’ll dock at Torri del Benaco, and here, we’ll continue our tour towards the north, to Riva del Garda.
Nestling between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites, Riva del Garda is the epicenter of Garda Trentino. Tonight, we’ll savor a classic spritz in its captivating piazza, immersing ourselves in the quintessential Italian lifestyle.
Overnight in Riva del Garda.
A different day is waiting for us, today is the “Mountains Day”.
The opening part of this stage takes us through the Sarca Valley on its dedicated cycle path. Here, the sheer cliffs that embrace the valley create a breathtaking panorama and a world-renowned climbing mecca.
Then, we’ll start riding up the Ballino Pass. This climb is never too demanding, but requires some energy. Here, the environment evolves from lakeside charm to mountain majesty, all while riding on peaceful backroads.
A long and amusing descent will take us back to Riva Del Garda.
Overnight in Riva del Garda.
The last day has come; it’s time to head to Verona.
We’ll start with a short transfer by van to Garda, from where we’ll ride south, cycling through the village of Bardolino to Lazise, picturesque towns on the shores of Lake Garda. In Lazise, we bid farewell to the lake and, with a left turn, enter the renowned Valpolicella region.
Valpolicella, in the heart of Verona province, is a captivating hilly pre-Alpine area of Veneto where natural environment, artistic heritage, cultural traditions, and renowned wines converge in harmony.
Here, a new and modern cycling path takes us to Verona, the city of “Romeo and Juliet”. This UNESCO World Heritage city is a vibrant tapestry of history, culture, music, architectural marvels, and sophisticated society. A place full of tradition, from the grandeur of opera to fine food and wine.
This evening we will enjoy a final celebratory toast with a glass of wine – the well-deserved reward for this unforgettable cycling experience!
